INITIAL CONSULTATION
$30, one time.
BASE RATES
- $160 per month includes up to four 30-minute sessions.
- $180 per month includes up to four 40-minute or 45-minute sessions.
- $200 per month includes up to four one-hour sessions.
Base rates are charged per calendar month, not per lesson. The amount a student is charged per month does not change based on how many lessons they completed, or plan to complete, in a given month. It is recommended, but not required, that students plan to complete all four included sessions each month. Self-service rescheduling options are available in the event a student cannot complete a regularly scheduled lesson.
PAYMENT DATES
A student’s first invoice is sent shortly after their consultation or first lesson. This is the only invoice that is sent manually.
Credit/debit card users:
The person(s) responsible for payment should save a preferred “card on file” when completing the first payment. The saved “card on file” will be used to set up automatic monthly charges. Monthly payments will occur on the same date at the end of each month (either the 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, or 31st) to cover lessons during the following calendar month (in advance).
ESA/Classwallet users:
Monthly invoices, formatted for ESA approval, will be automatically issued on the 20th of each month to cover lessons during the following calendar month (in advance). The person(s) responsible for payment should upload the invoice to Classwallet promptly.
Discounts/Credits
FAMILY DISCOUNT
When a family enrolls more than one student simultaneously, each student gets $25 deducted from their monthly rate. A qualifying “family” is a group of people all supported by the same income source(s) that lives together permanently. This discount cannot be combined with the Young Student Discount.
“Double-dipping” clause: Family discounts are intended to help relieve large financial burdens for families, and are not available to students who pay with assistance from any program outside regular household income, such as Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, or educational vouchers from other states.
REFER-A-FRIEND CREDIT
When a current student refers a new student, both the current student and the new student will have $10 deducted from their next month’s total fees, one time. This discount can be multiplied indefinitely; a current student can refer several new students, and receive $10 off, once, for each one, without limit. The discount applies after the new student begins lessons.
WAITING LIST DISCOUNT
If a student (or family of students) completes an initial consultation, and is placed on a waiting list, when that student does (or those students do) begin lessons, they will receive $10-per-waited-month (since the consultation) off of their first total payment, one time. The Waiting List Discount will not exceed $100 per family, and will be applied only to new students, not returning students. If a student chooses not to take an opening that is offered to them, and continues to wait, they forfeit their Waiting List Discount.
YOUNG STUDENT DISCOUNT
Parents may choose weekly twenty-minute sessions for students who are under 5 years of age, and deduct $25 from their base rate each month, until the student is no longer eligible for shortened sessions. This discount cannot be combined with the Family Discount.
OVERPAYMENT CREDIT
Change and refunds are not provided. Any overpaid amount will be credited toward a student’s next charge. The only exception is for an overpaid final payment; in that case, arrangements will be made to refund the overpaid amount.
INSTRUCTOR CANCELLATION CREDIT
In the event that the Instructor must cancel a session, and a rescheduled session is not arranged, an Instructor Cancellation Credit will be applied to a student’s next charge:
- For a 30 minute session, cancelled by instructor and not rescheduled: $35 credit
- For a 40 or 45 minute session, cancelled by instructor and not rescheduled: $40 credit
- For a 60 minute session, cancelled by instructor and not rescheduled: $45 credit
If the Instructor must cancel after a student’s final payment, arrangements will be made to refund to the appropriate amount instead.
VACATION CREDIT
If a student will miss all 4 sessions in one month, there will be no charges due for that month, as long as the Instructor is notified of the absence before the payment due date.
No more than two Vacation Credits can be used consecutively. If the student will miss more than two consecutive calendar months, they can either pay the flat month rate without interruption to maintain their weekly lesson in the calendar, or risk forfeiting it.
SIX-MONTH PAYMENT DISCOUNT
Students who pay for six calendar months up front have $50 deducted from their total fees due for that six-month term. If more than one student in a family pays for six months, up front, $50 is deducted from each student’s total. Students can choose to pay for one month, or six months, at a time, at any payment due date during the year. (In other words, paying for one month does not mean that you must continue paying monthly, and paying for six months does not mean that you must continue paying for six month terms.)
If a student who paid for six months must take a month off from lessons (see Vacation Credit above), the month off does not count as one of the six paid months; however, the next payment due date will occur no more than seven calendar months from the last. A six month payment can encompass no more than one month of missed lessons. The student will not need to pay again until they have completed six months of lessons (which may mean seven calendar months, if one month of lessons was skipped).
Six-month payments are not refundable, in whole or part, if the student cancels the remainder of the term; the unused portion of a six-month payment will only be refunded in the event that the Instructor needs to cancel the rest of the term.
“Double-dipping” clause: Six-month payment discounts are intended to help relieve large financial burdens for families, and are not available to students who pay with assistance from any program outside regular household income, such as Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, or educational vouchers from other states.
Extra Charges
LATE PAYMENT FEE
If a payment is not completed on the due date for any reason, the student(s) will be electronically invoiced (or receive a payment reminder) on that day. Payments that are not made on the due date, or any time during the following 7 days, will accrue a $2-per-day (after the original due date) late payment fee.
REQUESTED MUSIC FEE
Students who request music that is not part of the curriculum may either purchase the music themselves, or the instructor can purchase it for them through sheetmusicplus.com, or musicnotes.com. If the instructor purchases the music, the full price of two copies (one for the student, and one for the instructor) will be added to their next monthly payment.
EDUCATIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
Students gain access to several excellent subscription-based music education services, including, but not limited to:
- Sight Reading Factory
- Noteflight Learn
- Soundtrap for Education
Most of these services charge teachers annual memberships for their students. These fees go directly to the third-party service provider. Rates may vary, if third-party providers change their prices, or different quantities of accounts qualify for different bulk rates, or due to other factors. Your lesson fees are intended to cover these memberships, and usually do. This means that currently, students do not need to pay anything extra to use these services. However, students should be aware that, in the event of a price change at a third-party software provider, they may be asked to contribute part, or the entirety of, their annual membership to any of these services.
RECITAL SPONSORSHIP
Recitals incur extra charges, such as venue rental, required insurance, printing, and other incidentals. These costs are divided evenly between all performing families. Typically, each family pays approximately $40 annually.
